Help classifying car
« on: September 30, 2016, 12:11:53 PM »
Hi,

Need some help classifying my car for the next YYC event.

After some reading on the SCCA I'm a little lost. :o

The car is an e36 m3 with lots of modifications

Are there any helpful links somewhere floating around to help me with properly classifying my car.

Thanks

Here's the link to the classing "cheat sheet" http://cdn.growassets.net/user_files/scca/downloads/000/012/284/2016-2-2_Quick_Reference_of_Category_Allowances.pdf?1454446940

If "lots" of mods includes internal engine work or forced induction, but you still have an interior (carpet, etc)  then you are likely in SM (Street Modified).

Once you figure out which category you fit in then the progression of the E36 M3 is Street = CS, Street Touring = STU, Street Prepared = BSP, Street Modified = SM, Prepared = FP, Modified = EM

Or you can just post a list of the mods and we can point you in the right direction.

Sounds like it will be in the Street Modified class

A mod list might be helpful though

The mods include
supercharger with charge cooler. I think 11.5 psi
headers and exhaust
odb1 intake manifold
tc kline single adjustable coil overs
camber plates
a front strut bar
front and rear sway bars
8 1/2 x 18 front wheels 235/40
9 1/2 x 18 rear wheels 265/35
stock wheel size is
7 1/2 x 17 225
7 x 17 245

The interior is still stock and so are the suspension bushing besides diff bushings (95a) and rear trailing arm bushings (95a), not sure if this matters or not

Read through the SM rules to make sure you are in compliance with all that class allows you to do (quite a bit actually but you do need to retain your full interior) ... the charger puts you there (SM) for sure ... or beyond ... E-Mod.
