Way to go Ryan and Jay.  Interesting that it was Miata Vs Miata in the final, although two quite different examples.

I see they made a mistake saying Monty was in 2nd in SS ... meanwhile Jocelin Huang and Jay leap-frogged Monty on Sunday morning and Jay jumped ahead of Jocelin on Sunday after she had improved and been in 2nd for a while.  She has won nationals before ... couple of years ago I wrote an article on her and Charles for Sportscar Magazine at the Solo Nationals ... They were both quite fast from what I remember so Jay did good beating them!

Here's Bryan Heitkotter's (Nissan 350Z in STU) best runs from Fontana and his commentary from FB:

"Joining the Fontana ProSolo video party late...

When I watched my fastest right-side run today, I couldn't help noticing how boring it looked. In general, from inside the car most of the runs felt faster than they looked later on video. I guess it's true - smooth is fast.* Or perhaps the Nexen SUR4G gives me feedback that it has small slip angle before I have to actually correct the car most of the time. I remember feeling like I had a lot of grip in most places, even though the video doesn't convey that sensation. The high grip concrete at Crows Landing should be fun!

Best run each side: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpJDGjM0YcU

Interestingly enough my fastest runs were done back to back and both had sleepy lights (0.67x).

*Provided it's just smooth enough but still on point.

Kudos to Jonathan Lugod on the course design. Several different challenges were stuffed into a small space without it feeling overly busy or claustrophobic. My favorite part was the banked turn on the left course and the run down to the turnaround."
