I had to switch myself from July 28th to August 26th as I won't be there for the July 28th event.

We've switched out Nathan for Reijo for the September 30th (Event 14) course, the course will be the July 15th Porsche event course with some tweaks.

Just updated the template and uploaded the new one to the link in Tom's original post. The main change was to redo the Fort Macleod template to show the runway markings.

Also, those of you who have designed courses recently, please upload your maps to the "Old course maps" folder on the share so that future designers can use them as references.

305-4625 Varsity Dr NW....there is a log book you have to fill out above the copiers - BOX 167 is our mail box to charge it to...‎. You will probably see my wrting on the log book or ask them for help - good people there.

Should add to that they are open during normal business hours ... you can search for the UPS store at that location for phone no., hours and contact info etc.   They also sell some office supplies, packing supplies etc.

They are also open on Saturdays.

I wanted to share something that happened at Nationals this year for those who weren't there.

One of this year's courses finished with a rev-limiter-in-second slalom: https://youtu.be/BJz2rmAN318?t=52. There was 220' / 67 m between the finish and grid, almost half again the recommendation published in our course design template.

It was raining heavily on one of the days of the event, and on that day, not one but two cars spun into grid. One of them thankfully didn't hit anything, but the other hit a parked car and pushed it into another car, causing (and sustaining) heavy damage. It's incredibly lucky that no one was standing in that part of grid when the spins happened, or they would have been seriously injured.

It's tough for us to maintain SCCA-standard safety margins at YYC, and effectively impossible to do so at Fort Macleod, but we still need to keep this kind of stuff in mind when designing courses.

Yes ... good idea to have run-off area beyond the end of the track ... hence why we leave the corridor open in FM all the way to the end of the runway.   Depending on course design we can do the same thing at YYC ... past the end of the course, make sure there is no one parked there ... or there  is additional runoff area where a car without brakes can go.

I did hear some details on the collision at Nats ... bit of an extreme circumstance I gather ... We can talk about it among course designers some time.

- Must be experienced (4+ years of regular autocross)
- Must arrive on site early (~7:30am-7:45am)
- Must make sure that everything is properly put away and cleaned up at the end of the day and that the site is secured (typically last one off site)
- Give the morning safety meeting
- Ensure the event is running smoothly, adjust schedule and amount of runs as needed, deal with any last minute issues, ensure course/spectators/drivers are safe
