2018 STH Class?

I recently read on another forum that STH class would possibly be reintroduced in 2018 to accommodate hot hatches that aren't fully modified but currently fall in modified class due to the tune increasing boost pressure.
With most hot hatches, an aftermarket tune is not available without a boost increase & this was the driving force behind re-introducing this class.

Do you have more info/insight into this Reijo?

At that point it was just a proposal, and I have not been able to find any follow up in subsequent Fastracks.  Hopefully there is some clarification shortly after SCCA Nationals.

When do these changes get officially signed off for the coming year?
Its my first year racing under SCCA classing rules so I'm not sure how this works.

Usually they have a provisional class for a year to see how it goes and then make it official the following year.

HOWEVER if it turns out to be really, really popular like STR, it can become an official class immediately.

Mad "Max" Hayter is following Ron Bauer in the east announcing booth (car) for STX ... 58 cars and lots of depth for drivers in that class ... should be good!

The SCCA will address their proposed STH class in a Fastrack publication prior to 2018 if it's approved.
As with all street touring classes there will be specific tire, wheel, suspension allowances as well.

I've been wanting to run a tune on my car but I'm hating the idea of removing it each time i come to the track.

STH is listed in the draft 2018 Appendix A, but keep in mind the Mk7 R is listed in STU. STH only shows Golf R (2012-14). Word of mouth was that there was a mistake in an earlier draft that had all Golf Rs on the list but the intent is to keep the Mk7 in STU.

I read that too & I dont get it.
By STU rules I cant run a tune.
Infact, if i ran a tune, I'd go into modified class. However i thought STH was being reintroduced to allow hot hatches to run tunes but no go full out with a modified build spec.
I'm so confused

By a tune, did you mean modifying your boost levels?  That is specifically forbidden in all of the ST* classes.

From what I've read, boost level increase in STH is allowed.
I got this from fastrack but I've already read on a few other forums that increased boost due to tune is allowed but Intercooler & turbo needs to remain stock

Sorry, I was reading last year's rules.  Looks like ECU programming is unrestricted this year.
