SASC RHD classing clarification

This came up briefly at the RASE school this weekend but I forgot to clarify, are all RHD cars automatically reclassed to Street Prepared? I'm trying to sort how we class Jessica's Mini.

What year is the mini.  If its pre 1974 HCS or HCR could fit.

In 2012 I received an opinion from SCCA - SEB re: classing my 1991 Mini Cooper and confirmed I could run it in E-Prepared. Basically, only Minis sold in USA can be classed otherwise and Minis were sold in US up to and including 1967.

It is a 1990, produced by Rover during that time.

SCCA lists Austin mini's as H-Street, but there is nothing listed for Rover.

Sounds like the response Rubicon got from the SCCA is the by-the-books correct answer, but if I were in charge, I'd tell you to just sign up in H Street, or the lowest class in whatever category corresponds with its prep level. Realistically, it will be cannon fodder in either HS or STS.

As Stephen and Rick said.  By the book the Mini would be EP for any National-level event in the SCCA and here in Canada for that matter.

However, for local purposes, we can classify it as we see fit and the logical choice would be HStreet.  The modern-day mini is also in HS and this one will not threaten that or any of a number of cars in HStreet.  I doubt anyone would protest since it is not an over-dog ...

We do the same already with Tara's ST205 Celica.  As a JDM RHD vehicle, it should technically be in F prepared.  We have done 'some' work to it, so I don't feel comfortable with it in F street, so we put it in Street Mod instead.

Not like any of our cars are class competitive anyways.

Bottom line is, for SCCA national and Canadian national events (not sure about WCMA) need to get SEB advice/approval to properly class. SCCA has been pretty firm on JDM cars in the past and, until recently, hasn't allowed them to compete at Nationals.

We all know I *love* PAX.  ;D

Chris is very nice and told us to pop the 205 into one of the more appropriate street classes. So I run SM. By which I mean "ignore PAX and look at where I am in the RAW standings." To be fair, my car is unusually quick for what it is, putting it in Street Mod is pretty appropriate.

These are excellent insights. Neither Jess nor I will be running in any national or competitive US events in either of our cars, so I'm not too concerned about that piece. I did want to ensure we weren't bending SASC rules by arbitrarily making our own call on classing. This thread did confirm where I thought it should be, in HS.
