Fun day today, with some serious battles happening.

I loved the course; lots of offsets that rewarded aggression, but only if you could keep your runs clean (which was tough to do).

Couple of things are possible:
1. You didn't ensure that you were marked as rookie for those 2 events
2. You registered under a different name (and or spelling) for those 2 events.

How difficult logistically was it to have grid on the runway instead of on the pad?

That layout has the huge advantage of eliminating the runway turnaround (which is typically a place where powerful cars can make a ton of time). It would be really tough to design a course with any significant amount of overlap, though.

Remember to have the porta-potties placed down at the pit+grid area   Outside of that, it seemed pretty normal.

The lack of overlap is the biggest issue:
1. Plan on shorter courses than you usually do
2. Plan on this design only for events with low attendance (perhaps have 2 designs on hand and flip depending on attendance)

I actually really enjoyed the layout this event.  The course was awesome, grid was comfortable (sometimes grid is a bit cramped in the usual spot), and the turnaround had more room to play (heck,  there was room to add a chicago box over there). The only drawbacks I saw was how long some people had to walk to get to stations.... and since I had sound close to the exit again (big surprise there lol), It didn't affect me.  As Murray said, the turnout numbers have to be lower to get the desired runs in due to the lack of overlapping cars.

Thanks to all for another awesome event.  I loved the course.

Here are the sound logs for the event.  The sound was lower than normal in the morning when the humidity was up,  but slowly got back to normal as things dried out.

3.  Plan on an entrance cap to match the total attendance to the course size?

We ran into this problem last summer (50+ people due to pent up demand?) combined with a late set-up/start and a longer course that resulted in only 3 runs each by the time a late lunch was finally called.  It might be a good idea to do some form of Murray's #2 regardless for those events where the numbers spike up.

We currently have a shortage of course designers, so I would suggest having 2 course designs ready to go may be difficult.

Although it would be a good idea. I think if we wanted to entertain this type of course design we would need to take a serious look at an entry cap, or a slightly earlier start time.

An earlier start time would probably make it even more difficult to secure a course designer/setup as it is already a pretty early morning to get to FM to set up in time for the start we have.
