I think Stuart has a point here.   If someone classes their "stock" car in Mod ... and then runs slicks (actually I seem to remember this happening many years ago ... someone bolting slicks onto a car that was non-prep or mod class).  If the suspension is "soft" and with poor shocks, etc. ... or some vehicle that is border-line for roll-over ... add slicks = roll over issue.

Sounds like more rules would be required restricting the use of slicks etc.

It is a slippery slope.....

Unless they are Continental Extreme Slicks, may as well run All Season tires as you'll have more grip. Ask me how I know  ;D

From the insurance and ASN/WCMA sanctioning standpoint, using the SCCA classing rules is not a requirement. There are marque clubs that run completely different (or no) classes. I think Regina runs a simplified classing scheme for their regular club series.

The clubs do need to adhere to the ASN GCR's and provide a safe venue, course, etc., but classing and determination of car safety is up to the club and the individual.

Not that one (2005 Nats) ... maybe 10 years before that and on actual slicks, not R's.

I just noticed that Jason P has two separate positions in the overall, 58 & 63. He's only ever driven one car, unless there's some other reason his times are broken up.

His name is different (lower case j and P vs upper case J and P).  The scoring software for overalls uses your full name, so if you change it, then you magically become a different person.

I'll fix it up in the event where he is all lower case.
