SASC Events / Results for September 24 event at the Westerner
« on: September 24, 2016, 04:49:09 PM »
Today's results were scored as single best run because a small shower hit during the driver's meeting.  It dried out over the day, so single best run was deemed to be the fairest scoring method.

So work, run, rest in that order I think is best since people are resting before working giving them more time to get to their working positions on time.

If one is resting just before running, then the order must be run, work, rest

See tis thread: http://forums.sascsolo.com/index.php/topic,541.msg4362/topicseen.html#new

I asked about scoring and was told "morning runs only".  Nothing was said to me about first 3 runs.  Can I please get "the real story" here?

SASC Events / Question about WCMA scoring on Aug 27/28
« on: September 23, 2016, 12:29:39 AM »
What was announced to the drivers for WCMA scores?  e.g. first 3 runs of the morning?  Was it the same for both Saturday and Sunday?

I need to know so I can properly score them and get the results to Jim W.

A quick look at the registration list, I think there will be class shuffles morning of as. Not sure how to get around this as new people don't know their class.

Yeah, we are probably stuck with class shuffling :(

I need to update the mjtiming software to group heats by class instead of group (street, touring, etc) because the street group is more than half the field.

The brackets show which time is the fastest for that set.  Your time for the day is the sum of the fastest times from set 1 and set 2.

Class changes on the morning of the event causes problems and slows us down because of heat assignment changes.  It would be best by far if we can have our heat assignments done the day before and printed out for people to look at -- otherwise we end up with newcomers getting confused and running in the wrong heat.

Right now, our heat assignments look like this:
13 : SM
13 : BS
11 : FS
08 : AS
06 : SSM
06 : CS
04 : HS
03 : DS
03 : FSP
03 : ASP
03 : STX
03 : GS
02 : STU
02 : CP
02 : STR
02 : BSP
01 : AM
01 : ES
01 : XP
01 : EM
01 : DM
01 : EP
01 : ESP
01 : CSP
01 : FP

Heat 1 of 3: (31):SM, SSM, HS, GS, STR, ES, EM, ESP,
Heat 2 of 3: (31):BS, CS, DS, ASP, STU, BSP, DM, CSP,
Heat 3 of 3: (31):FS, AS, FSP, STX, CP, AM, XP, EP, FP,

I think it is a bit more than teamwork -- unfortunately IMO.  Sucessful events with large numbers of participants require some fairly serious restrictions, with the most imposrtant being no walkups and no last minute changes by registrants.  i.e. the Motorsportreg report is the one and only source of data.  This makes it possible for run groups and worker assignaments to be completely correct before th morning of the event.  That sounds easy, but, wow, it is amazing how rarely that happens.

Technical Talk / Re: Spreadsheet for daily runs calculations
« on: September 21, 2016, 04:12:13 AM »
Thanks Brian.  I like the idea of 3 runs in the morning, and then using that data to determine the number of runs in the afternoon.  It's nice to say that we must send cars out every 20-ish seconds, but it may not happen for a variety of reasons.  This way, we can adjust the afternoon run count to match reality.

Rev. 2 of the spreadsheet is loaded .... 23 seconds apart or less is desirable.   :)

We all have to be very, very good to make that time.  I hope we have a lot of athletic cone chasers (i.e. not me), very good grid marshal(s), and a very alert starter.  And hope for no timing issues; I am glad that there aren't many trees in the area to trip the beams.

I think your spreadsheet is a bit off.  It shows 2 sets of runs, but only accounts for one change over per heat.

VCMC club manages about 800 runs in a day, but heats don't get to run twice in the day.  The 130 drivers get their 6 runs and work and that's it for the day.

Should we do something to encourage ride-alongs for people that are shy?  Perhaps a big orange dot on the windshield to show that the driver accepts (and encourages) passengers.
