General Discussion / Re: Random ideas thread
« on: June 09, 2019, 08:15:56 PM »
Murray, I assume the issue with live timing had something to do with the red alternate computer. We used that computer to confirm that both of the club’s timing computers were functional, and it was first event we’ve used it this year. The router and MJannouce were set up as usual, and reset multiple times the same way the instructions recommend. Not sure if it’s related but the displays also did not show dirty/DNF in front of the times.

Stephen, the club has a printer if you would like to bring it to events for printed results. We also used to have a short driver’s meeting at the end of events to go over results and allow everyone to view the results on the timing computer, but most people wanted to save the 10min and view the results when they got home.

As for course set up, I feel one of the main contributors to the issues setting the course up yesterday was that the designer was not one of the people setting it up. The benefit of having the designer responsible for set up is that the thought that goes into the flow of the course carries over into a more efficient review and adjustment of the set up.

SASC Events / Results for Event #3 - June 8, 2019 - Fort Macleod
« on: June 08, 2019, 07:48:51 PM »
Hi everyone,

Here's the results for the June 8, 2019 Event #3.

Also, does anyone know if Russ S had some car trouble on the way back? There was a white Mustang convertible on the side of the highway but when we pulled over there was no one inside. I assume he got a lift back to civilization...

Thanks,

Richard

We’ve got 4 trucks and a van so I think the trailers are probably not needed for cones, but one would be helpful for the shelving unit and bins.

Murray, sure, meet us there if you want to drop off the PA.

Thanks and see you at 1

Since our car is getting some work done, Sera and I are looking for co-drives for the Sunday (May 26) event. We're happy to run Solostorm and share data/video, coaching, cover entry fees/tire wear, etc. Adam has graciously offered one seat. Anyone else have another seat available? If you're interested, please PM me here or text me at 403 - four seven seven - four 5 six 1

Thanks!

Richard

Thanks again for everyone’s help in successfully putting on this event. Given that this ended up being the club’s first event of the season, at a new venue with its own unique constraints, the event went very smoothly. We successfully had all equipment, portapotties, and cars off the runway at 6:20pm!

Again I want to thank everyone for working the extended work shifts. For any future events at Airdrie Airpark, the club will be looking at (among other things):

- ways to balance the number of runs and length of work assignments
- moving tech and on-site check-in to the paddock area
- ways to allow better access for spectators

Try JDM Source or the like. That's where I got mine from back in the day.

Member Discussion (Private) / Re: 2019 Solo Venues
« on: April 10, 2019, 04:41:23 PM »
I'll just add that although both Budget and the City were positive towards renting to us for this year, the land ownership transfer has now been completed through expropriation. This means Budget is no longer the owner and can no longer rent to us.

Unfortunately, due the fact that the previous owner is objecting to the expropriation, under the Expropriation Act of Alberta, the City is not legally allowed to do anything other than surveys on the land until the predetermined possession date. In this case it prevents the new owner (the City) from renting to us as well.

This is disappointing news, but the Club will continue to engage both Budget and the City in the search for venues.

Sera, who worked timing, confirmed that it was supposed to be scored as single best, same as was originally posted.

Now I see we posted the scores as single best even though 2 sets were tracked. So in absence of a confirmation from someone who made afternoon changes, this should stay as single best.

There were changes made to the course IIRC. I believe the entry to the first (south) slalom was opened up. Does Tom or Reijo remember?
