There is no insurer that would ever provide you with coverage for anything that happens at one of these events. To my knowledge there is no insurance products that would cover any type of timed event. Historically there's been a very small handful of insurance products for HPDE/Lapping (non-timed) events, but even those seem to have of disappeared in Canada.
There are a few that have covered schools on tracks but that is about it. In over 40 years of this, the only damage I have had has been mechanical failure of some sort - e.g. wheel studs breaking, front sway bar breaking, wheel bearings (peculiar to my car - S2k) etc. However I have seen roll-overs (caused by a FSB breaking), and other incidents mainly due to gross driver error or even hitting a light at Fort Macleod airport (we try to design tracks so you are not spinning at one but it can happen albeit infrequently). Take a school or a few and you can avoid most if not all of the carnage. Cheers, Reijo

I'm with Jay on this one!
I agree, no reason no proceed as long as we’re distanced from each other. We’ll probably have to compromise on the ride alongs but I don’t see any other reason no to do this. In my eyes our events can be much safer than walking down the street downtown or sitting on a patio which is allowed.
I am with you guys. In fact, I have often said autox is very much like skiing. Both are individual sports which do not involve a team (other than some past team autoxes but those are special events not run every year) nor is this a spectator sport. One thing I noted about the information above is that restrictions are for group gatherings (esp. indoors) and for specatator sports. Our insurance tells us we are NOT a spectator sport unlike road racing etc. These are something that could be emphasized with government/health officals. And, like Jay mentioned, this is very little different than golf and skiing and separation can be easily maintained with some minor modifications to event procedures (like no passengers except from the same household or if you work with them). Some common sense should be used ... but sometimes it is not so common.

Hi Scott,
I would recommend Carline Automotive on 33rd Street, one of the guys that works there knows a thing or two about driving around cones.
That would be 33rd ST NE - sort of behind/west of the Marlborough Canadian Tire. R

Thanks guys and gals! Thanks for all the help during the setup, day and afterwards ... takes a team to make these events a success! Glad you enjoyed the course! I forgot to mention that the WCMA AGM is cancelled this year for obvious reasons. Awards will be mailed out. And weren't those "women" awfully fast!? lol By the way, the AM 136 would have been Yvonne A. in the Porsche ... think her number would have been 361 in the software. Thanks for your invaluable help Murray with the timing hick-ups that caused the delays early in the day! And, long after the day was over, Betsy helped unload all the equipment at the clubhouse and never mind manning the timing for the day!

Have you checked with RX7 Specialties? Just thinking they might have engines etc. lying around.

The May 9 event still shows up on msreg. Might want to "delete" or cross it off.

You missed an option for non-street cars ... e.g. a Prepared or Mod track-only car.

Fred informed me that he has other people interested so the 100 spots will likely be spoken for very shortly (there are always some no. of people wanting to check out this collection ... sort of "standby" I suppose?). Soooo .... if you are thinking about getting in on this, let me know right away on here!

Make sure are on-time so you do not miss the escourt vehicle ... or aim to come 10-15 min. early ... people were arriving 1/2 hour early last time .... a good time to hang out for a bit:
If you want to use GPS etc., I put a pin at the mailboxes on Bing Maps and got the following address (but keep Fred's instructions just in case ... can't trust GPS all the time! lol): 520 Hurricane Dr, Calgary, AB T3Z,

Here's directions to the muster point - or meeting place where we will be met by a guide to lead us to the colleciton (it is sort of the south side of the industrial park on the east side of the Springbank Airport and directly adjacent to Township Road 250). I would suggest being 10-15 minutes early at the least just to ensure you do not miss the escourt vehicle! I think people started to show about 1/2 hour before and hung out at the mail boxes ... good time to visit a bit with people you run with!:
Hi Reijo,
Here are directions you can forward to the attendees:
Take Hwy #1 west to exit 169 (Calaway Park)
North to 4 way stop (Church on corner)
West to Springbank airport
Take second entrance to airport (west side) and make an immediate right
Drive to the mailboxes and wait there, someone will meet you at 1pm sharp!
I'm looking forward to showing you the cars, Fred
Thanks so much for your continued support!!!

ok, got an email from Fred this morning and we will be doing a double tour (there will be two people who lead us through the tour after splitting the group into 2 groups). This means we can handle up to 100 people and I am just over 80 so we are good to go! Next Saturday, 1 pm at the Springbank airport .... meet at the mailboxes - directions in the next post! I'm glad everyone got in......if you know anyone else interested, we now have room!
