That's a different link, I was trying the one in the first post in this thread. Anyway it worked, thanks Pat!

The link to apply for membership on MSReg doesn't work, the only option on there is the April 15 practice....

So I haven't previously looked into studded tires but it doesn't seem like you can just buy them with 3.5mm studs. I take it you have to buy studdable tires then take them to a guy to stud (any recommendations?). Is that length of stud is pretty much undrivable on bare pavement?

Technical Talk / Re: Possible system enhancement« on: October 19, 2017, 11:46:05 AM »
If it can fit in the original display, clean/dirty is probably good enough. I only want to know my cone count if it's my fast lap, and it doesn't matter if it's 1 or 5 cones. Another thing to consider, takes time to call in the penalty, confirm and enter it so if you cone in the latter part of your lap it probably won't show up in time anyway.

2005 35th anniversary edition, with just under 30,000 km. Hoping the weather cooperates next Sunday so I can give it a shakedown run before winter.

Count me out of the Spec FRS cup, I impulse bought an ultra low km 350z.

Thanks for the answers guys, that clarifies things. The Spec FRS is tempting, anyone local considering running one?

Technical Talk / 2018 updates« on: September 28, 2017, 11:53:51 AM »
Some questions for those who have been around the sport for a few years:
What time of year does the SCCA usually release the updated car classes for next season? How much shuffling of classed and changes to PAX ratings do you normally see? I'd like to get into a different car for next season as the one wheel drive convertible Mustang is getting frustrating to drive fast. Since it will be the 3rd car in the household only used for summer cruising and solo, no reason not to have something with a somewhat competitive PAX. For example I'd hate to buy an FR-S and have it moved to C street or try to run a 4.6L Mustang in F street (already a long shot) only to have the dominant cars in the class have the PAX moved up several points. I was hoping to pick something up this fall during the summer car selloff and have the winter to get it in autocross condition but would like some feedback on if I should wait for the new rules or if changes are usually very minor. Cheers 11

As someone coming to the sport for the first time this season, the draw is that you can bring the car you have. But as everyone seems to find out, after a few events we are hooked and more competitive than expected. I was in the same position as Jeff when I started, slow car with bad pax. It was going to take a lot more money to do something about the slow than the pax, so I spent $300 to get it back to street class. Still not a class leading car by any means, but seems like money well spent to have a 16th place pax last weekend vs what would have been 40th if I'd stayed in Street Touring.
Also to get back to the original theme of this post, I ran a 39.3 4 times in a row following the A line around the final corner, and a 38.6 following the C line on my final lap. No telemetry to back up how much of that time was gained on that corner, but for my car at least C was the fast line. 12
General Discussion / Re: Trailer for rent?« on: July 25, 2017, 10:32:15 AM »
Thanks guys. Looked into it and they are cheaper than expected, about $55. Unlike the $700 fuel pump.

General Discussion / Trailer for rent?« on: July 24, 2017, 09:55:38 AM »
So it's starting to look like the Mustang has a problem with Fort Macleod. Parking lot troubleshooting leads me to believe it's the fuel pump this time, but I'm not certain enough to head back down there with a new pump and no backup plan. Does anyone in YYC have a trailer they would be willing to loan me for day? I'm tentatively thinking this Friday and will pay in $ or beer or whatever.

I like the NE corner, in a slower car like mine braking points aren't as critical but that looks like it will be a challenge to get right. Looks like it's gonna be a fun track!
