Sunday afternoon (on site) -- right after the scores are calculated and any protests have been handled.

I believe that at past Nationals the numbers were first come first serve.

Same rule as U.S. Nationals -- when you register, you get to choose from the remaining available numbers.  So, if you register early enough, odds are in favour of you getting the number of your choice.

So the No 8 which I now have through the club doesn't apply?

That's right, things become a free for all so out of towners have the same access to numbers as we do.  Having said that, if there is an issue I am sure we can discuss things and hopefully have it work out for everyone involved.

Yes that is correct.  Those numbers are for local club events for which we do the local scoring.

The Nationals, of course, are a stand-alone event with people coming from many clubs and across the country and even the USA.  There may be other people who also run the number 8 (for instance).  I know for a fact that some friends down south actually register at the SCCA Nationals extra early/asap mainly to get their own numbers.  In some cases of regular competitors in the same class year after year, it is "understood" that certain people run a certain number .... eg. Scott McHugh and Tom McDaniels are always 47/147 (second driver is always the "100" number ... and this is the same as the Cdn. Nats).   Sometimes a "new" person enters a class and it has been known as a matter of courtesy for them to give up a long-standing number to the regular competitor upon request.

Also, the number 8 can be used in every class since the classes are unique.  So you potentially have 30-some number 8's at the SCCA Nationals.

Here, chances are you will be OK ... but it is still advisable to enter early.

ASN will be issuing a press release shortly for the Nationals and our organizing committee has been together for a while already but it is time to start advertising it and get in earnest about the preparation.  It will be an exciting and great event!

That is not true for us -- my software does not allow duplicate numbers in different classes.  All competitors must have a unique number.
