I'll be interested in your description of how the car is changed.  I'll probably beg a ride along as well, since a 3rd gen Miata is one of the cars Jo and I have been considering.

Hi Murray.

The think what's very noticeable with the car in unmodified form is the front end is way to soft, it washes out in the corners and has an excess of body role which un-weights the car. Once its done you can drive it at FM in July. One the road its fabulous.

Finally had the day free to work on the car. New adjustable Koni's, front sway bar, Carbo-tech pads and .4 fluid all now fitted. Did the alignment and managed to get 2.3 deg camber in the front, 1.8 in the rear.

When the Koni's are on full soft it's as close to stock as you could get, yet 1.5 turns on the adjuster and its a very different car. The additional 1 deg camber has made a huge difference of the speed of the turn in, yet its still tracks straight on the highway.

Now we got to work on the driver.  :(

-2.3 degrees in the front?  That's huge!  AFAIK, stock Miatas are about the same as an S2000, where they top out at around -1.7 or so.

And I disagree about the driver mod being easy; it's the hardest and most time consuming of all the things you can do.

Miatas and S2000's can get about 2+ in the front and about 1.5-1.7 in the rear for negative camber.....very similar.

And agree with you that the driver is probably the biggest factor ... and hardest to control!   :)
