SCCA Nationals - attendance.

1233 entries!  This is the first time they have exceeded 1200 entries ... think the most was 1169 or something like that before.  The final count will vary obviously but this is highest it has been this early as far as I know.

That's over 4 days.  Half will run Tuesday/Wednesday and half on Thursday/Friday.  Within each of those half runs the East course the first day, then the West the next and vice versa.  Each course is roughly 250m x 300m plus very large grid area, then there is about 400m x 700m of parking for competitors and another practice course of 200m x 300m.  It is truly a sight to behold and should be on every car guys list of things to experience.  Hint for newcomers, bring a bike or rent a golf cart to get around!

Here's an interesting video of Carol Wong (formerly of metro Vancouver - now living in Washington state) driving the AMod Vancouver Special to grid on the west course - there are two grids of about 60+ places each (they were pitted about 1/2 way down the paddock/pits) ...

The site is almost exactly 1 mile across ... with two full-sized courses on concrete at one end ... concessions, stores, mobile coffee shops/food trucks etc. and paddock in the middle and the test and tune course at the other end.  The site is absolutely HUGE!   And, why you do not want to walk around all the time ... They rent golf carts there to get around;  others bring pit motorcycles, bicycles, skate boards, etc. etc. to get around ... or use a spare car/truck ...

Here's the Speedway Motors (the museum is where the SCCA Nats welcoming party is held at ... very interesting to see also!) 2014 SCCA Nats video ... They have made one each year for a few years now ... great stuff!

I wonder if we could make a video like this for the Canadian Nats?   :)

I'm no pro and I wouldn't guarantee a finished product worth watching but if people send me a bunch of video clips from the event I would be up for at least taking a shot at it.  As part of that, if anyone has any suggestions for music that could be used (and not be pulled from youtube) it would be appreciated.  If nothing else it would be fun to see all the clips people have.

1251 entries at this time.

I think the previous record was set in 2007.

This may be another indication that the economy down south is finally starting to turn around (since 2008).

I will hopefully be attending US Nationals next year in the S2000.  Lots of learning and reading to do before then  :D

I wonder if my Tacoma is strong enough to pull 2800lbs of S2000 and 1500lbs of trailer down there  :o

And don't forget tools, any spare tires and stuff like that.  It is good to go well prepped so you don't ruin a long trip if something simple breaks.
