6 trophies in STR.  Top 7 spots are less than 1 second apart!

Top 8 spots in STS are less than a second.  Kinch Rindle is in 8th and Jeff Wong in 5th ... both past national champions ... tough competition!

Top 3 (trophies) in SSP .... 1/10th of a second.  Can't afford to blink!  :)

...and it's just a sample of what the actual U.S. national championships in September are like.

Every semi-serious autocrosser should make the trip to the U.S. national championships at least once. The big classes there are bigger than our big *events*, so the level of competition is insane. :)

From what I've seen, ProSolo scores tend to be a fair bit tighter than other events because:

a) They are very short ~30 sec - on a longer course you'd probably see bigger gaps
b) The reaction times can sometimes mask differences between drivers - eg, faster driver has slower RT but still wins, just with a smaller margin than if RT were not a factor.

You also get a lot more runs per course so everyone gets more "practice" runs or shots at getting a better time ... In a Tour you get 3 runs and 1 counts which is much harder to do ...

Don't be ... everyone is human ... including the aliens!   ;)  We'll talk about this in the Comp School more this year than in the past.  Jonn Renay will give a little talk about the mental game and also work with us on Sunday on how to deal with pressure, fear, how to perform when you have coned 2 runs and you have one run left ... but you can't back down or you are sure to lose.  How do you deal with that?  How do you pull that run out of your *ss so to speak.  How come some people can do that on a regular basis?  What's with that anyway?   It'll be fun.  There's 2 spots open in the Comp.   ;)
