I always have to think about this one.  At the big events you will have a rest before and after you run but with 3 heats that is not possible.   So work, run, rest in that order I think is best since people are resting before working giving them more time to get to their working positions on time.

Hmmm.... I am thinking we need to get a worker check-in position happening and then announce the check-ins so people know to come in time and work toward changes on-the-fly to save time.

If one is resting just before running, then the order must be run, work, rest

BC clubs typically use run, work, rest.  There's two reasons.

#1 - people tend to leave the site for lunch.  They are way less likely to be late if they run after their break.  If you're late you miss runs its simple.  Much easier to deal with than having people trying to get to the work stations while cars are running.  Tardiness hurts the driver as opposed to it affecting event operation.

#2 - the chief of workers normally checks in with the drivers during first runs (before people get too serious on their final runs).  It's a quick easy way to make sure everyone knows they work next (and where they work) - basically a captive audience while in grid.

I like reason #1 ... you miss runs if you are late.    Big incentive!   8)

1/2 the cones are already spread out along the course, table/chairs set for registration and other half the cones are already in my truck ... ready to go ... so with a little help we should be set up earlier than usual and easily running by 10 am or sooner.

I agree, run, work, rest order is best. Other reasons in addition to the ones already mentioned:

If you've got work/adjustments to do on your car there's time to do so during your break.

It can facilitate a faster turnover as people move to their work duty as soon as they are done their runs. Working after a break always means stragglers.
