Great job gents!

Is there an overall pax results anywhere btw? I was kind of curious to see how things shook out overall.

Well... one half of my weekend commitment was executed correctly.
Performed as 'tire warmer' extraordinaire, assisting Ryan on his 'quest for the best'.
Ryan's scratch last run would have pulled him to within 0.013 of Bullis.
The only closer battle was AS on Sunday.

As for myself... miss judged the Saturday course and was not able to recover in remaining 2 runs.
Happy with Sunday, 3rd quickest BS run, thanks to Ryan coning away his 3rd run :(, so I know that I can run with the pack. But... as the saying goes... One day does not an event make.

One thing that I got from this last weekend was the knowledge that my car's perceived handling faults aren't enough to make it un-competitive.  In other words, I need to worry more about my driving and less about the car's under steer.

Sway bar has to come off this week for a closer look, since it is making awful noises :)

Congratulations to our own Alan Rae, winning a close fought DM battle with the Babb's in his '91 Caterham.
Alan told me his secrets...
Bill over at Auto Mann did a little tune up on his Caterham recently.
Alan had his eyes tuned up as well, a little cataract surgery.
And he's found full throttle again.

Alan's looking forward to his annual pilgrimage to autox Mecca, Lincoln in September.
Trust we'll see him make an appearance at the Overtime 'FAT KAT' Challenge as well, tuning up for said pilgrimage.

REally!?  I was wondering what happened because he has never beat the Babbs in recent history or that I know of!  Wow!  Fantastic!

Vision is important ... gotta be able to see!

You understeer problem is due to the big front bar, its always tough to change direction when your mind is already made up you going the right way

Car is reasonably competitive, shame about the driver

I changed the rear bump stops, and the understeer is mostly cured, except when I crank the wheel too far in a corner.  On the advice of a competitor, I am softening the bar one notch for this coming weekend to see how it handles.

Are you doing the Pro, Murray?  I would advise being closer/tighter to the cones on the big turn-arounds ... and a slightly different line.

We aren't doing the Pro, but going to Helena for the weekend instead.

Yeah, most of my time was lost on the big turn-arounds by being too far off the cones/line.  On Saturday, my biggest error was not carrying enough speed into the huge sweeper at the top of the course.  I never shifted to third on Saturday, but if I had done the entry correctly, third gear would have been needed and useful.

As a side note, it's rather fun to drive through a slalom with my foot to the floor and running at red-line.

I did "come on strong" on Sunday, but the really annoying thing is that I could have easily come in 2nd with nothing more than tightening up my lines and driving neater.  1st place was something different -- Joe Goeke really did some outstanding driving, both tidy and also fast enough to scare all the cones.  Good job on his part!

Removed the sway bar arms, rotated the bar by 60 degrees and applied a lot of anti-seize, and put it all back together.  Back to being totally silent.

For this Helena weekend, I am softening the bar down to hole #2 (#1 is softest) on the advice of Joe Goeke.  Reports on results will be forthcoming.

Joe is a past National Champion and no slouch!  Also a nice guy!
