Technical Talk / Re: Router and live scoring
« on: May 07, 2018, 10:39:50 PM »
If we are willing to use a raw IP address (instead of browsing to scores.com), I can set up a different router at an event and see if that fixes the issues.

Any issue with that?  I would say just put a sign up near timing with the ip address with basic instructions and go from there.  The regional series in Ontario has a really complicated method, but they just put it on display at timing so people can sort it out.  I find live timing to be a bit of a luxury, so if it has to be a bit more complicated then I am not concerned.

If you need another iPhone for testing let me know.  I am new to iPhone in the past few weeks.

With respect to iphones, I found I could access the site with safari but with no other browser.  Once I started to use Safari it was really reliable. Had to turn off cell data, similar to Android.

The web interface sounds nice, sounds like a more detailed club decision on whether to spend the money on live connection on site.

Automotive Marketplace / Re: WTB: Trailer Storage

If you get stuck, most of those storage places have extra parking they rent out.

Do you mean storage locker places or the RV storage lots?

I am in the process of moving back to Calgary.  I have a 18 foot flat deck car hauler (22 foot total length) I am looking to store somewhere on a permanent basis.  I will be bringing it out at the end of May.

I expect be living in the NW closer to centre street, and would like to find a location within a 15 minute drive.  24 hour access isn't a big deal, as long as it is 7 days a week with normal hours, and a secure site.  Convenience = $, which I know, so I am flexible.

Let me know if you have any suggestions on locations, or even if you have space to rent I would be interested.

Well, it sounds as though the Picton Airfield, which is just south of Belleville Ontario has been confirmed for the weekend of July 20.

It's a great location along Lake Ontario.  The venue is phenomenal for autocross, it is a very wide triangle of runways, although it is often run at higher speeds.

Official announcement is likely coming in the next week or so.  If you can make it happen I would say do it because of the venue and the area which is quite nice.

Someone had asked about this earlier in the month in the rules thread.  Thought I would update in a dedicated thread.

The location for the 2018 CAC is now officially up in the air.  The air field that is located north of London Ontario was the potential location, the board for the airport (which is owned and based in China) denied the proposal to host the event there after the local management had already agreed to hosting.  This has been conveyed to ASN and it is being discussed currently I believe.  Unfortunately the only other venue suitable in Ontario is the Picton Airfield, near Belleville, which is also for sale and unable to host. There is a real lack of large quality venues in Ontario currently.

Hopefully another venue can be secured quickly because it is getting late in the year to get this scheduled.  I am sure more will be heard on this in the near future.  It seems unlikely that it will stay in Ontario, but another club will need to step up.

General Discussion / Re: Co-drive for Events 2, 3 and 4?
« on: March 20, 2018, 04:56:42 PM »
Hi Adam, I am interested in trying to run something that is actually supposed to be fast.  Could possibly trade a co-drive in the truck for a future co-drive in the s2k or something along those lines.  I am shaking out vacation plans at the moment so not 100% sure what events I'll be doing.

I will keep that in mind and will consider it, thank you.  Either way, if you want a co-drive later in the year in the S2K I am sure we can work something out.

General Discussion / Re: Montana Shipping Thread
« on: March 20, 2018, 04:55:56 PM »
ATBS and MSO both seem to work great.

Any chance of someone going through sweetgrass in the coming ~4 months?  My sway bar ends are toast, and as it happens there is a rare group-buy happening for new sway bars right now.  Would not likely ship before May.  Delta on shipping is an additional $70USD to get it from Montana to YYC, which is just silly.

I will be passing through both at the end of April, and May.  Van in April, and then truck/trailer after that.  Could pick up either time if needed.

SASC Events / Re: 2018 - SASC Schedule/Rules/Info

you
The Oshawa club is hosting, it will be held at an air strip just north of London Ontario on July 6-8 weekend.

Well, it is a combination of a few Ontario clubs, including Oshawa, Barrie and London.  The venue is one that was used by the London club in the past but it was lost.  I am with the London club currently.

Currently we are waiting on shareholder response to have it at that venue but the ownership is offshore, so it is moving slowly for that response.  ASN is needing to sort it very soon, so if it doesn't go this month it will be at another location likely.

Hopefully it works out, it's a good venue.  Supposed to be July 6-8 weekend right now, but again not confirmed.

General Discussion / Co-drive for Events 2, 3 and 4?
« on: March 19, 2018, 01:47:23 PM »
I will be arriving in Calgary at the beginning of April, but my S2K won't be coming from Ontario until the end of May.  I was hoping to potentially find a co-drive in a Street Class car preferably for the events on May 5/6 at YYC and May 12 in Fort MacLeod.  Although I am open to any offers on vehicles to run.

For those of you that do not know me, I previously participated in SASC club events in 2014 and 2015 before moving away from Calgary.  I have been autocrossing for 5 years now. I have run front, rear and all wheel drive cars so far.  I prefer a rear wheel drive car, after my most recent experience with the S2K, but I am open to anything.  Mostly I just don't want to wait till June to get started.

If you are interested, please PM me and we can discuss particulars.

Thanks,
Adam

Moderators: if this is in the wrong spot let me know and I will move.  Thanks!

My wife and I decided these past few months to return to Calgary.  We lived there from 2011 to 2015, and relocated back Ontario in 2015 so I could work in government. I decided it was enough of government and I will be returning next month, going back into engineering consulting in Alberta.  My wife and our 2 children will be following in late May or early June depending when living arrangements are sorted.

Last time I lived out there, I had a 2009 Subaru STi in ASP for a season then a 1990 Civic Si in STS for another season.  I will be bringing my 07 S2000 out with me (not until late May), which I will run in BS this year, and depending on my situation, possibly STR next year (or sell it and moving on, still deciding).  Currently the S2K is running a karcepts front bar, and OZ Alleggerita wheels in gold, depending on costs I may do a lightweight exhaust this year, but want to save the shocks depending on future years.  I have been participating the past 2 years in a local London Club and the Ontario region, as well as a few US events since I have been so close the past few years.

I look forward to actively participating in this club again.

Technical Talk / Re: New project?
« on: March 21, 2017, 09:02:04 AM »
Murray, I would agree it is very difficult to do better.  I would state that there are so many variables that go into maximum available grip/contact patch that you could chase those variables to insanity.

The goal may be to start with simple data logging techniques and analysis and intimately understand them before seeking more data.  In my experience managing large amounts of data sometimes it has to be approached simply first to draw more straight forward conclusions, which then drives in the right direction of what you should be collecting more detailed data on.  If you start to the level you may be thinking you will be so overwhelmed with information that it may be hard to achieve what you are after.  Call the starting portion of your project a bit of a gap analysis on existing techniques.

I think the project would be fascinating, and enjoyable, but I don't know how much more you will achieve outside of existing tools that currently exist.
