One thing will be different for this date:   The Days Inn convention room is not available and the Microsoft Store (thanks Sabina!) has been kind enough to let us use their facilities for the classroom session.

The classroom session, however, will take place on the evening before (Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015) the Ghost Lake driving.  Therefore the classroom session will begin at 7 pm at the Microsoft Store (opened in August 2014) and it is located inside the Chinook Mall on Macleod Trail.  The store is located at the north end of the mall on the lower level and right next to Nordstroms (formerly Sears).

You will find our session on the Microsoft Store schedule and the meeting room is at the back of the store:

And then on Sunday morning (Feb. 8) we will meet at the south parking lot at Ghost Lake at 8:45 am to sign waivers etc. (if not signed the night before) and then onto Ghost Lake to begin training at 9:10 am (estimated).

We still have spots open for the Winter Driver Training tomorrow ... .Know anyone who wants to become more confident in their winter driving?  Want some more "tools" in your repertoire to tackle the nasty winter driving conditions we have now?  This is your chance!   Get in there, we are sure to help you irregardless of your driving experience!   We have experienced racers teaching some competition style "tricks" I'm sure not many of you may even have heard of; some really neat "stuff" ...

Registration is open until about midnight tonight .... You could even drop in at the Days Inn at 5 Westside Drive in Cochrane last minute (7:45 am to sign up etc.)with cash in hand if you like (we prefer you sign up on-line so we do not have to handle  money at the site however it is an option).

Great!   It might be a really good opportunity to get even more seat time than expected!   Not that that is a bad thing!  :)

Plenty of spots available for this coming Sunday!   Do you know anyone who would want or benefit from a Winter Driver Training Session?  Point them this way!

Thanks,

Hello there!

Welcome to the fray!   :)

The SASC does virtually all of their business on-line or else at events ..... and therefore we only have one "official" meeting per year - the AGM .... which was held in mid-November.

So, come by and talk to us on Sunday!   :)

Were you out on the ice?   I noticed a couple  of cars and a truck dropped by for a look-see ..... did not meet you.

In any case, just stayed tuned on this board (subscibe?) ..... next event is Jan. 4th .... so we will have to get the Motorsportreg.com going on that pretty much right away.

We had the instructor training today .... ice was 14.5" thick near the island - south side of the lake directly across from the bridge/parking lot.

The course will be held around the island tomorrow.

The weather is supposed to turn colder on Sunday therefore:

1.  This is good for getting thicker ice!    Temp to be dropping to -17 C (forecast for Sunday, of early Saturday morning) during the day (I was skiing in -14C Boxing Day - no problem, not cold).
2.  Note that you will be in the car driving most of the day and not outside much at all.  Make sure your car fuel is topped off (to prevent freezing of  the fuel line due to condensation).
3.  Nevertheless I would recommend long johns, sweater, hat/toque, good boots (with extra socks) and mitts/gloves for the cold.
