I have checked around some more and am pretty confident we will be a "go" this weekend.
I have some new schedules, maps and other stuff made up. These will be handed out on Saturday and Sunday morning.
Each day will begin at 8 am at the Day's Inn Cochrane at 8 am (for set-up those people will have to be there earlier).
On Saturday, all the instructors should be at the Day's Inn at 8 am for the power point presentation etc. so we are all familiar with what goes on. Following that we will go to Ghost Lake and set up the courses (mostly new layout and procedures will be in place for this year - more compact, simplified and easier to set up .... with a more logical progression for the students for the day). We will practice setting them up and then do a bit of training ourselves - more detail will be discussed at the Day's Inn. We will also discuss the Sunday schedule and set-up etc. during Saturday.
Generally the day goes from 8 am to 4 pm with a lunch at Ghost Station each day. Note that they also have premium, regular and diesel fuels available there and will be open all winter. Their prices are competitive with Cochrane so no need to drive further!
Cheers!
Reijo

The ice appears to have thickened up a little bit (13 1/2" today) over the last few days .... no snow .... Check the SASC Face Book Page for photos. I also saw a Nissan 4x4 on the north side of the bridge on the ice .... so obviously enough for him ... and some tracks from a vehicle on the south side. The few days of colder weather will be perfect to seal up the crack at the boat ramp .... ALSO, the Ghost Lake gas station and store is open all winter with new owners ..... They will have pizza and/or chili for us for lunch .... They also have reg, premium and diesel fuel there ... plus all kinds of other goodies including booze for sale ... sort of a country general store - under new owners. I'm 99% sure we'll be a go this weekend. Reijo

It is harder to find 16" wheels these days .... Enkei RPf's maybe? Check the Tire Rack web site? (think you may have but ....)
Otherwise maybe a custom wheel by Bogart (light but on the cheaper end of 3-piece wheels)? Nice thing about them is that once you are ready to go wider you can just buy the outer wheel and bolt it on .... something to consider.

The Hard Dog would be a good one ... been around for a long time! I have picked up stuff at the Coutts-Sweetgrass border before (cost was $5 USD) .... pretty good price! Of course it means driving down there .... 3 hours one way approximately. Jay has also used these guys extensively ... give them a shout: http://www.anderinger.com/locations/Reijo

By the way, we are also welcoming parents/guardians to this event! They can also sign up and maybe learn a few "things" - in fact, I can guarantee it .... even if they have raced in the past! R

We have opened up the Motosportreg.com registration for the Student Winter Driver Training (Thanks Murray!!). Some people are already signed up.
I had an unofficial wait list with about 20 people on it. I believe I have contacted everyone who has messaged me.
In case I somehow missed getting back to you and you need the link to sign up on-line, please send me an email (rase_usa@yahoo.com) and I will email you the link.
Thanks,
Reijo

The the LA Board:
Just a reminder about the changes for 2015, Nationally and locally.
No more combined Street classes (S1, S2, S3), all SCCA National Street classes are offered individually, i.e., SS AS BS CS DS ES FS GS HS which must run on 200+ treadwear tires and SSR, Super Stock cars on R-Tires. No more STC, check the National Rules to see where the ST cars all go now. B Prepared is gone. We will continue to combine all Street Prepared, Modified and Prepared into indexed classes.
There are now 3 Classic American Muscle classes: CAM-T =Traditional CAM cars 1954-72, 108” wheelbase, 3000lbs minimum CAM-C= Contemporary CAM cars 1978 and newer, 100” wheelbase, 3000lbs minimum CAM-S= Sports CAM cars 2 seats, 90” wheelbase, 2600lbs minimum

Ice thickness is about 13" away from the shore (close to 15" at the shore - about 20' out .... but broken ice at the shore at the bottom of the ramp so lake access is impeded): Photos are here: https://20141220ghostlake.shutterfly.com/#Ice is smoother and snow-free thanks to the recent Chinooks .... so they have done some good as far as we are concerned! By the way, if any students have parents who would like to come along and take the course, we encourage them to jump in there! Absolutely, it would be good to have the parents along! We still have plenty of room at this time but we will not open them to the general public just yet ... Reijo

Do you know of any students who would be interested in Winter Driver Training? We hope to hold a special Student edition during the Christmas holidays (Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014) and I would like to have some numbers, names etc. Valid Student I.D. is required for the reduced rate at the morning check-in/registration. In the event we do not have sufficient ice, we will delay a week or as required. Note that thus far we have always had enough ice by Jan. 1. The cold weather, it seems, is inevitable! Please PM me here to get a reserved spot. Student rate is 1/2 of the regular - $75 for a day of Winter Driver Training! Thanks, Reijo

Mind you if you are looking for the changes to come, they would all have been published in the Fastracks in 2014 .... have to go through 12 months of them ... say 12 or more pages.
They are located in the same general area of downloads as the solo rules.

National and regional level events will have different requirements over the club events where we can say what goes ... as might be expected. SCCA Tours and Nationals goes without saying ...
