Did you know that we broadcast the standings live during events? If you have an iPhone, have you noticed that live timing hasn't been working this year? As far as we can tell, Apple made a change to its networking stack which broke iPhones' ability to connect to our live timing, but Ryan figured out yesterday how to get it working again. To connect: - If you don't already have it, download the Google Chrome web browser. (Note that, if you have an Android phone, Chrome is already your default browser.) Live timing may work in other browsers too, but it doesn't work in Apple's default Safari browser.
- Connect to the "scores" wi-fi network.
- Open Chrome and open an Incognito tab by clicking on the three dots in the top right corner of the screen.
- Go to scores.com.
- Find someone who's behind you in the standings and mock them relentlessly.

2 275/35R18 Bridgestone RE-71R tires, used for 27 runs. 4217 and 4317 build dates. 6.5/32" of tread remaining, or maybe a bit more, since my tread depth gauge says my brand new 255s have 1/32" less tread than Bridgestone says they should. Near zero shoulder wear. I think I paid $794 plus tax for the pair in March, but I also think I got ripped off. Yours for $490.

- 2 235/40R18 Bridgestone RE-71R tires, used for 27 runs. 3717 build dates. 6/32" of tread remaining, or maybe a bit more as mentioned above. Light shoulder wear. I paid $552 for these in April. Yours for $370.
- 2 Bremmer Kraft 18" x 9" wheels. 35 mm offset, 5 x 112 mm bolt pattern. Bolt pattern should fit most modern Audis, VWs, and Mercedes, but check before buying. Used for just three events and a handful of street miles; I'd say their condition is 9/10. Normally sell for $350 USD per pair (~$448 CAD), but I got them on a killer sale for $198 USD (~$253 CAD), so I'll let them go for $170.
- 2 Enkei PF01 18" x 8" wheels. 42 mm offset, 5 x 120 mm bolt pattern. Bolt pattern should fit most modern BMWs, Hondas, and Acuras, but check before buying. Used for just a handful of events; I'd say their condition is 9/10. Normally sell for about $615 USD per pair (~$786 CAD). Yours for $525.

SOLDWell, my short-lived Crossfire experiment is coming to an end, but my loss could be your gain. Since Crossfires are weird and rare, and people generally don't know much about them, here's a quick list of the car's pros and cons: Pros: - 330 hp... or maybe more. The SRT-6 is a mechanical twin of the Mercedes SLK32 AMG, which had 350 hp. The SRT-6's motor is believed to be identical to the SLK32's, only advertised as being less powerful to avoid ruffling AMG's feathers.
You're not going to get an autocross car that's this fast in a straight line for any cheaper than this car; I've driven Tom G's 426 hp Camaro, and it doesn't feel meaningfully stronger in a straight line than mine does.
- It's very competitive on the right course. I came in third on PAX at Event 1 at Fort Macleod, and fourth at the April 22 practice at YYC.
- It's unique -- I've gotten more comments about it in my short period of ownership than I have on any other car I've ever owned.
- It's cheap. Did I mention it's cheap?
Cons: - It's an automatic, as SRT-6s only came as automatics. It does all the right things at Fort Macleod, but got a bit confused by the back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back slow turns on today's course. (I counted them on the course map.)
- It has an open differential. This helps it rotate nicely under power, but it doesn't put power down well exiting the aforementioned slow turns.
- It's a bit scruffy. There's some scuffing in the paint, particularly on the rear bumper, and the cupholder doesn't latch shut. It has a slow transmission fluid leak that we haven't yet been able to trace.
The car has the following modifications: - Bridgestone RE-71R tires, bought new at the beginning of the season. 235/40R18 in front, 275/35R18 in back. I also have a spare set of 255/35R18 RE-71Rs that I bought for the front of the car, but that I couldn't get mounted.
- Wheel stud conversion -- the car comes stock with wheel bolts, which are a hassle.
I'm selling the car because I want a car that can win PAX on any given day, and I don't quite think this car is quite there. It's pretty close though, and probably more competitive than 80% of the cars that show up to our local events, as demonstrated by my PAX finishes. For context on how picky I am about being in a competitive car, I recently turned down a great deal on a fully-prepped autocross car because it had a sunroof, and I didn't want the extra weight. The car's a 2005 with 42,5xx miles (68,5xx km). I'm into this car for something between $16k and $17k. I'm willing to sell it with all of the parts for $13k firm. I could probably get that much for the car in stock trim, but I'd rather sell it as it sits to an autocrosser. Also willing to consider trades -- not necessarily just for autocross cars. Interested? SoloStorm is great, but SoloStorm Cloud suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.
Tom G. and I have been trying to share data with each other using SoloStorm Cloud, but can't for the life of us get it to work in both directions. The fact that we're both using the default "New Session" session name probably isn't helping. SoloStorm tries to show every log file in the universe with that session name, and since there are likely dozens if not hundreds of New Session logs uploaded every weekend, I'm guessing it's getting confused.
SoloStorm's recommended solution is to give each session a unique name to make it easier to find, but that's a crappy solution, in my opinion. I might name my session "Fort Macleod 1", someone else might use "SASC 1", someone else might use "2018 Event 1", etc., which will make it super hard to find and associate them all, plus SoloStorm doesn't like comparing log files with different session names.
I propose that we all change our session name in SoloStorm to "SASC" (without the quotes), and use that for all events moving forward. That way, everyone's logs for every event will be visible under the SASC dropdown. Yes, it will be slightly confusing having old logs alongside current ones, but they're all time-stamped, so it should be easy to pick out the most recent ones.

Reijo can elaborate, but apparently it was just discovered among the club's stuff, and has been adopted as a de facto loaner helmet. The SOLO 2012 sticker suggests that whoever owns it went to an American national-level event circa 2012.

We have a new rule this year: only the first three runs on a given course configuration will be counted: Run Scoring For the 2018 season we will be putting additional pressure on competitors by only using their first 3 runs of the day towards the championship. This is being done to be more in line with larger US SCCA events where you only get three runs to make it count. Only the first three (3) runs of the day are scored unless the course is changed for the afternoon in which case the first three (3) runs of the morning and the first three (3) runs of the afternoon are scored.
I disagree with this rule, but I understand the intent (and have seen the same debate play out in Seattle). Here's the thing: the goal of the 3-run rule is to make our events more like national-level events, where you only have 3 runs to get the job done. The 3-run format makes it critically important that you have effective course walks, and are able to immediately push your car to its limits on an unfamiliar course. As it stands, though, we still allow passenger ride-alongs. Since we're reducing the number of counted runs, riding along with others will confer an even greater advantage than it did before -- it allows previewing the course, and learning how fast you can take specific elements, before you've taken any of your limited number of competition runs. Ride-alongs are not allowed at national-level events. Allowing passenger ride-alongs directly contravenes the purpose of the 3-run rule. Given that, for consistency's sake it seems that we should either: - keep the 3-run rule, and ban ride-alongs before fun runs, or
- continue allowing ride-alongs, and rescind the 3-run rule.
Personally, I'd vote for (2) -- I think it's more important to help each other improve by allowing ride-alongs than it is to exactly simulate a national-level event. What do you all think?

I can't find the original thread now, but earlier this year it was asserted that the PAX indexes are too hard for Modified classes. Rejio and I both responded that the PAX indexes are pretty close, and that the reason why Mod cars don't do well locally is that they're underprepared relative to what's allowed in their classes. Both of us posted pictures of the same E Modified "Jeep" to illustrate the point. Anyway, I found a short article about that Jeep, so I figured I'd share it here. Highlights: - ~425 whp in a car that weighs 1,750 lbs. / 795 kg *with* driver -- that's a power-to-weight ratio roughly equivalent to putting 1,000 hp (at the crank) into Cam's Corvette
- Runs the entire course in a single gear that tops out at 85 mph / 137 km/h
- Uses parts sourced from a Chevy Cobalt, a '67 Ford Mustang, a VW Scirocco, and a Toyota Yaris
- Uses 14"-wide rear wheels

I'm not sure yet, but I may not have a way to get to the AGM on Sunday. Anyone coming up from the southwest who'd be willing/able to pick me up, hang around the AGM for long enough to beat me at karting, then ideally drop me off again? I live pretty close to the intersection of Crowchild and Memorial.
