Thanks Murray, we missed you guys out there today. Cameron’s third run in the afternoon should be marked as a rerun, that was me taking an instructor run.

Yesterday's course was definitely awesome!  Funny how I felt like the morning version was easier than the afternoon for me.

The course certainly rewarded those who really set up the next element. I agree with you though, I personally preferred the “tighter” morning layout myself  :)

Not a great tire... if you want something that's somewhat quick but will still wear ok I'd be looking at something like a Hankook RS4 or a Conti ECS02. But honestly on a light car like an 86 you can probably get something even stickier (see below) and have reasonably long tire life. Just my $0.02.

Will vouch for this car, very well taken care of, an absolute joy to drive.

Thanks Murray, some of the drivers show three separate run sets? We only did two, five runs in the morning and five runs in the afternoon.

Technical Talk / Re: RT660 or RE-71RS for 2 driver car
« on: June 19, 2024, 10:26:06 AM »
Agreed with Tom. On my camber limited car, I only got about 60 runs out of the front pair of RE71RS's. 660's lasted longer and the original RE71R (non S) lasted even longer than those.

Welcome!

GR86 should be in DS not BS.

General Discussion / Re: Insurance for autocross?
« on: April 23, 2024, 04:18:00 PM »
There is no insurer that would ever provide you with coverage for anything that happens at one of these events. To my knowledge there is no insurance products that would cover any type of timed event. Historically there's been a very small handful of insurance products for HPDE/Lapping (non-timed) events, but even those seem to have of disappeared in Canada.

Are you new to autocross/performance driving or know someone that is? The SASC will be putting on a free novice school for those that sign up for our practice event on May 4th. The school will run approximately half the day, in the morning, after which all the students will be able to partake in the practice event for the remainder of the day.

The school will consist of ~1hr of basic theory in-class, followed by ~2hrs of in-car drills. The school is geared towards those new to autocross and those that have only done a few events in the past.

Important Information
- Students must have their own car (sedan, hatchback, wagon, coupe, convertible, etc.) in good mechanical working condition. SUV's, CUV's, Minivans and Trucks are not permitted with a few exceptions for Performance Based SUV's (check with us first if you're not sure). Please note that instructors reserve the right to turn away students/cars that don't have sufficient tread depth tires, have leaks, loose batteries, or are in any other way not mechanically fit.
- Two drivers can share one vehicle.
- An approved helmet (http://forums.sascsolo.com/index.php?topic=1711.0), if you don't have one, there will be a few loaner helmets available.
- Please review the information here: https://web.sascsolo.com/autocross-101/

If you have any questions feel free to ask them in this thread.
