As you've probably seen from Dallin's post asking about AGM dates, we are getting ready to run through the elections process at our AGM (details to follow shortly once we have the venue booked, look for info here and on your email). We discussed at our Monthly meeting on Tuesday whether each of us is willing to stand for re-election and I am going to step down at the end of the 2022 season so we'll be looking for a new secretary for election at the AGM to continue in this role for 2023.
For those of you who don't know me or what I've done as secretary, I run in the yellow 1992 Mazda Miata and have been the guy that has responded to any issues you've had with registering (especially making sure your annual membership discount works), process refunds when you can't make the event and answer general questions to the newcomers that are looking to come out.
If you are interested in putting your name forward as a nominee for the position of secretary, please get in touch with any of the current executive members (me, Jared, Dallin or Bob) to discuss the details and so we can make sure we are ready at the AGM to vote for the incoming secretary's role. The secretary's current role is to manage the meeting minutes for the monthly and annual meetings, manage the registration process in MSReg and is part of the executive body that manages day to day operations of the club and our events.
If you are curious about the role, please don't hesitate to get in touch and I'll walk you through what I know from my two years on the job.

With the current higher prices of fuel and to entice more members to step up to haul cones for our events at Airdrie and Fort MacLeod SASC has decided to offer fuel reimbursement to offset the additional travel costs for bringing a truck/trailer to the event to help out with cone hauling.
Members who wish to help out should contact Bob Stinn (the current Solo Director) at solodirector@sascsolo.com to coordinate your work assignment for the event you are interested in. Once the event has finished, you may contact the club treasurer (treasurer@sascsolo.com) for reimbursement. This offer is open to all current members only.
Reimbursement will be as follows:
Fort MacLeod Airport - $200 Airdrie Airport - $50
For information check out the SASC Monthly Meeting Minutes for June 14, 2022 - a motion was raised, voted on and passed to allow these reimbursement amounts effective for any 2022 events after June 14th. The executive will include a motion at the AGM in November/December to affirm the continuation of reimbursement for 2023 so all members may have a say in whether the program continues.
If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to talk to any of the executive members (either at the events or through email/forum direct messages).

The first two events for the 2022 season are a Test and Tune on April 30, 2022 and a Practice Day on May 1, 2022 (Saturday and Sunday double header). The events are ready to go in MSReg and will open today, April 15th, at noon for registration. 1) April 30, 2022 - Test and Tune at Ft. MacLeod - a more casually run day, with separate elements to help setup cars. Registration can be found at the following link: http://msreg.com/sasc2022fmtest2) May 1, 2022 - Ft. MacLeod Practice #1 - ran as a normal event but not for Championship points. Registration can be found at the following link: http://msreg.com/sac2022fmP1If you haven't signed up for an annual SASC membership yet, you can find details at the following link ( http://msreg.com/SASC2022Membership). Please note that the annual membership discount code will not work if you sign up for both a new membership and an event during the same MSReg session but don't worry, I'll go in and manually process your discount and add the discount code to your account for you after your payment has been processed by MSReg. Lastly, a reminder that all liability waivers will be electronic using the MSReg Speed Waiver process. When you complete your registration MSReg will ask you if you wish to complete your Speed Waiver during the registration process. Its fairly easy to do (I know a few folks have already used it for other events) - Speed Waiver sends you a link by text, you click the link, it takes a photo of you, gets you to read and sign the waiver screen, then it texts you a link for your confirmation. You'll need this confirmation screen to show at on-site check-in. Don't worry, if you forgot to complete the waiver during the registration process, the link is in MSReg in the event details. We'll also have a copy of the link as a QR-code on site for check-in so you can get any friends or family who haven't signed the waiver to complete it as well. Look forward to seeing everyone out!

As in previous seasons, SASC will allow members to reserve racing numbers for the duration of the 2022 season, these will be preassigned in Motorsport Reg. So if you’ve ever wanted to purchase a set of magnetic or static cling numbers now you can. In order to reserve a particular racing number you must: 1. Have a valid 2022 SASC Membership ( https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/southern-alberta-solosport-club-sasc-membership-973862) 2. Reserve one of the following numbers: 1-199: Reserved Numbers Only (non-members cannot use these numbers) 200-699: Open Numbers (members can also reserve) 700-999: NEW DRIVERS ONLY (have done less than 3 autocross events) (this is so we can easily identify first time, new drivers) Other numbers (i.e. 1000+ are not permitted) 3. Numbers will be on a first come, first served basis. If you included your number preference in your MSReg membership registration form, I have assigned these numbers in the order that the members were registered. If you need to change your number listed below prior to the first event, please send me an email at secretary.sasc@gmail.com and I will update your number. 5. You can only reserve one number unless you have registered for a family membership and you have included those numbers in your registration. If you have a co-driver, he or she must also be a member and request that number him/herself The current list of reserved numbers is as follows, please let me know by email if you see any errors in your assigned number: Number Driver1 Miles Williams 4 Claire Humphreys 5 Murray Peterson 6 Jason Humphreys 7 Peter McFadyen 8 Patrick Swett 11 Mikael Sears 12 Tom Grzesiak 17 Robin Dymond 18 Dallin Beloglowka 20 Matthew Howe 21 Gary Stephen 22 Payton Pohl 26 Mark Terrio-Cameron 27 Michael Simonot 28 David Storwick 36 Brian Anderson 37 Dan Mcarthur 41 Scott Fraser 43 Jared Coulson 47 K. As you've probably seen from Dallin's post, we are getting ready to run through the elections process at our AGM (tentatively late November, look for Jared's post for details shortly) and discussed at our Monthly meeting on Tuesday whether each of us is willing to stand for re-election. I too am willing to run the club's secretary position for a second year and would like to put forward my name for re-election for the position for the 2022 season. For those of you who I don't know me very well, I've been auto crossing since the 2017 season at YYC and run in the yellow 1992 Mazda Miata. I'm also the guy that has responded to any issues you've had with registering (especially making sure your annual membership discount works), processes refunds when you can't make the event and answers general questions to the newcomers that are looking to come out.
If you are interested in putting your name forward as a nominee for the position of secretary, please get in touch with Jared to discuss the details and so we can put in place a voting process for the AGM (instead of the standard acclamation that usually happens). The secretary's current role is to manage the meeting minutes for the monthly and annual meetings, manage the registration process in MSReg and is part of the executive body that manages day to day operations of the club and our events.
If you are curious about the role, please don't hesitate to get in touch and I'll walk you through what I know from my year on the job.

We'd like to start getting feedback on the course designs (and feel free to throw in event feedback as well) for each event so we can make improvements to our designs for future events. I've attached a copy of the course map so you can remind yourself of what we drove at Sunday's event. Tom, feel free to pipe in with your design intent if you like and what you ended up changing from the map after you got out there and started walking the final set-up.
To help feed your thoughts, here are some stock questions to think about:
- what did you like? - what didn't you like? - how were the start and finish boxes? - any specific elements that stand out in your mind still? - do you think your likes and dislikes were specific to your car or level of car prep? - anything about the course design that you think affected the execution aspects of the event? - were speeds too slow, too fast, too much full throttle, not enough full throttle? - from our starters, grid workers and timers, anything you noticed about keeping the event moving
